Message from the Race Director

Aloha,

Welcome to the 2013 Kaiser Permanente Great Aloha Run! For the past 28 years, our volunteer race committee has worked tirelessly to bring you a unique experience via the Great Aloha Run and Expo. As your new Race Director, it is my hope your experience this year is exceptional.

We are fortunate to have strong relationships with generous sponsors who are inspired by all of you who participate. Their commitment al- lows us to bring you a race day experience filled with entertainment, great food, and support from beginning to end . . . resulting in positive memories for you to take home.

It will be evident to you that The Great Aloha Run continues to sup- port our local community in every way by using local vendors to provide the goods and services for the event. You also will see local high school groups and non-profit organizations throughout the race course and stadium events. Finally, all of our charitable giving goes back to Hawaii’s communities and non-profit organizations. In addi- tion to hosting over 800 senior citizens for free computer classes over the summer of 2012, to date, we have given over $460,000 to local charities.

YOUR participation and that of our over 4,000 volunteers makes this generosity possible. So when you sign up for the Great Aloha Run, please take pride in knowing that you are not only doing something great for yourself, but you are also doing something POWERFUL for your community, your neighbors, and our state.

As we strive to give you a unique Aloha Run experience, regardless of whether you walk, run or jog. The Great Aloha Run is “More Than Just A Run” to us, just as we hope it is to you. It’s our hope that in addition to the race day activities you take advantage of our In Training Work- shops and take time to cruise our Three-day Expo at the Blaisedell Exhibition Hall. We also hope that you are able to take advantage of the event by finding new friends to train with as we approach race day. In short, we want everyone to have a great time leading up to and during the event!
